A magnificent piano concert celebrating the fusion of East and West! This concert brings together outstanding pianists from home and abroad: Lawrence Pazlav, Germany’s first professor-level pianist specialising in piano improvisation and Professor of Piano at the Freiburg University of Music, alongside Zhang Dingyuan—the inaugural Head of the Keyboard Department at the School of Music, East China Normal University, Professor and Master’s supervisor—who will perform a four-hand, two-piano piece on stage with Yang Dongjin, a young pianist from the School of Music at Shanghai University. Centred on Beethoven’s classic works, the concert will bridge the German-Austrian classical tradition with Chinese musical aesthetics. The musical heritage of the German-Austrian region along the Rhine meets the Eastern artistic sensibilities of the Huangpu River; renowned artists from China and abroad will use the piano as a medium, building cultural bridges through its vibrant tones, allowing the audience to experience the charm of piano art that transcends national borders and connects East and West through moving melodies.

The programme includes: the piano improvisation *From the Rhine to the Huangpu River*; a four-hand piano piece: Fauré’s *‘La Poupée’ Suite*; *Step by Step* arranged by Lü Wencheng and Chu Wanghua; and two-piano pieces: Chen Yi’s *Western China Suite* and Piazzolla’s *Libertango*, amongst others. Subject to change.
